No, but it is an area I should further explore. There is so much I don't know about my extended family. It was reported that my grandmother (my father's mother) was at least half Cherokee Indian. She denied her heritage, stating, "I ain't no injun." Keep in mind back in the day, it was considered shameful to be a "half breed." I did discover that if she was Native American (and she certainly looked it, especially when she got older) neither one of her parents registered as one, as mandated by federal law back in the day. I have considered getting a DNA test done by UC Berkley, which is becoming fairly inexpensive to do (still in the hundreds as far as cost, however). They can trace your genes as to where your ancestors came from. If I had the funds to do it, I think I would like to explore this further.

I had my DNA analyzed by 23andMe. It's only $99, but they used to offer health reports and I don't think they're allowed to do that anymore, which kind of sucks. I got mine before that happened.

I also got my dad's and grandma's analyzed. Oh and my husband's. Interesting stuff!

Let's start with this--I'm 2.9% Neanderthal.

Now you have me really wanting to explore DNA testing. It's really interesting. After all, who wouldn't want to know where they came from? It helps fill in why we are who we are.

Yeah, it's really cool. Everyone has some Neanderthal in them, btw. Most around 2.5-3.0%, from what I can gather.
